This Safer Internet Day over 300 organisations got involved in Safer Internet Day and helped to promote the slogan Connect with Respect. Results from an evaluation survey commissioned by the BBC demonstrate just how successful Safer Internet Day 2013 was.

The survey found that

  • 1 in 10 heard about Safer Internet Day 2013 – including 13% of children aged 8-12 years, 14% of teenagers aged 13-18 years, and 6% of adults.
  • Two–fifths of these said they would change their online behaviour as a result of the campaign – including 43% of children, 44% of teenagers and 40% of adults.
  • Many said they would talk to someone in their family about using the internet safely after hearing about the campaign – including 56% of children, 37% of teens, and 42% of adults.

The survey was commissioned by the BBC to help them evaluate their Safer Internet Day campaign, #ShareTakeCare. The evaluation survey also asked children, teenagers and adults about the wider Safer Internet Day campaign, to help explore the reach and impact of the day.
