Thank you to all of the organisations who made Safer Internet Day 2012 “Connecting Generations” a fantastic success. Over 180 schools, companies, charities, police forces, academic institutions, local authorities and more got involved in the day; read below to find out what they all did.

  • Dimensions Dimensions will be sharing our Stay Safe Online Guide with the people we support across the country.
  • Hawthorn High School Assemblies, website design competitions, & a parents information session will show technology used safely and the benefits to the community.
  • McKinney Primary School E-safety talks & competitions for best internet safety presentation from each Key Stage with special prizes from local sponsors.
  • (ISC)2 School talks for age 10 & up on social networking, gaming, cyberbullying, online profiling, identity protection,  music  & video downloading.
  • Mobiflock We’ll be supporting you online tomorrow, both with retweets etc and sharing some of our own info. Hope the day is a huge success.
  • Hexakis Hexakis is delivering a number of training sessions raising awareness of SID with staff in our partnered schools.
  • Great Yarmouth College Great Yarmouth College are running sessions for students & the local community, as well as sharing resources for parents and carers online.
  • Digitalme and Safe DigitalMe have developed ‘Safe Family’ for all ages to share experiences of staying safe by completing tasks together on social networks.
  • Vital – Open University The Vital e-safety portal will run an evening TeachShare, web meeting, to encourage educators to share their e-safety tips and ideas.

  • London Borough of Sutton Child protection  & eSafety sessions for primary & secondary parents & carers: Wallington Library 7 Feb. Info: saferinternet@suttonlea.org.
  • UKCCIS The UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) will launch advice for children and parents that can be used by service providers.
  • E-Learning Foundation E-learning foundation will promote connecting generations on its website, by tweeting and encouraging schools to use UKSIC schools packs.
  • Somerset e-learning and information management Encouraging schools in Somerset to take part in an esafety competition, esafety forum and create esafety Gatekeepers.
  • Westcoastcloud Westcoastcloud is running a survey on parental controls & unveiling a website for parents & schools for its esafety software Netintelligence.
  • SOS Global Health awareness provider SOS Global will connect generations to educate each other on 7 February at Topsham‘s St Matthews hall, 10am – 1pm.
  • Suffolk New College Suffolk New College will host an event in their Atrium on 7 Feb inviting companies able to offer guidance on the safe use of the internet.
  • Internet Services Providers’ Association ISPA promote the day by hosting information on the ISPA website, as well as tweeting and sharing updates about the day with ISPA members.
  • The FA The FA Supports Safer Internet Day 2012 and actively promotes The FA’s best practice guidance on the use of social media throughout youth football.
  • British Board of Film Classification BBFC will tweet safer internet tips & advising parents on BBFC tools designed to make choosing online films for children easier.
  • MadeForMums MadeForMums is delighted to be working with the SIC hosting a live internet safety twitter chat on 6/2 for mums.
  • AT&T AT&T proudly support the work of the UK Safer Internet Centre for SID connecting generations to discover the digital world together safely.
  • Durham County Council Durham County Council are promoting eSafety across their 300 schools as part of Safer Internet Day 2012.
  • St Luke’s CE School, Winchester Activities for YR to Y6 using Thinkuknow & www.saferinternet.org.uk packs, assemblies for KS1 & KS2 & a parents information meeting.
  • Manchester Safeguarding Children Board MSCB & Manchester pupils’ film reworking of Snow White & the 7 Dwarfs is a story of poisoned apples, jealousy & the pitfalls of the online world.
  • Oldham LSCB Eight days of activities for all ages in the town centre, schools, colleges, the library and on OC Radio – see www.esafetyweek.info.
  • Ofcom Ofcom will communicate SID to stakeholders, consumers & colleagues via our quarterly media literacy email, the Ofcom website and intranet.
  • Coventry & Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce Training 6-10 Feb CWT will put keeping safe on the internet into training schedules, topics & events. Like us on CWT children care and playwork.
  • Moshi Monsters Moshi Monsters kicks-off SID with the 1st Create-A-Moshi-Boardgame Contest for players & parents & grandparents to invent Moshi Boardgames.
  • Northumberland Council We are delivering to community groups across Northumberland on “Discovering the digital world together safely.
  • Kaspersky Lab For SID, Kaspersky Lab will provide simple top tips to help families and individuals stay safe online via www.kaspersky.co.uk/safer.
  • Children 1st We are committed to supporting families to protect children from online risks and allow them to enjoy positive digital media opportunities.
  • Post Office Limited Post Office Ltd. will promote SID on postoffice.co.uk & broadcast the SID film on Post Office TV in our 375 Crown branches ready for 7 Feb.
  • Active Age ActiveAge on behalf of Microsoft will host a dinner & roundtable in Newcastle to discuss some of the key issues around this year’s theme.
  • Trend Micro Trend Micro is promoting SID via its website visited by over 7,000 people daily & will include posts on their various social media sites.
  • Google Google is part of the SID Connecting Generations debate & hosting a workshop to help MPs understand how kids can use Google services safely.
  • South Marston CofE Primary School, Swindon We are launching parental access to our learning platform for Safer Internet day to give parents access to reports and attendance online.
  • Kent County Council Kent County Council will be updating e-Safety documents and will be encouraging and supporting schools and settings to engage with families.
  • Spring Cottage Primary School, Hull Lots of exciting e-safety activity throughout the school on 7 Feb & a ‘Parents’ and Carers’ guide to the Internet’ session at our school.
  • Fairfield Endowed Junior School, Buxton, Derbyshire We will run a school internet café for all generations of our pupils’ families & a safer internet week for Keeping Safe in our PSHCE syllabus.
  • Manor Primary School, Ivybridge, Devon KS1 & KS2 will survey to discover our digital footprint, give top tips & Home agreements for families & e-safety games for the whole school.
  • Safe CIC Lunch events in colleges, “design an Esafety app” competition, leaflets & Esafety app at http://www.safechilduk.info/esafety_flowchart.htm.
  • YouTube YouTube will be attending and taking part in the UKSIC’s SID event in Parliament.
  • Pool Academy, Cornwall Teachers show students safe ways of social networking at lunchtime, plus primary e-safety sessions throughout February in brand new library!
  • Yahoo! Yahoo! is proud to support SID globally with tips and videos on online safety, reaching millions of people around the world.
  • Lucy Faithfull Foundation and Stop it Now! UK and Ireland Stop it Now! will be running internet safety seminars in Hampshire and London to raise awareness of Safer Internet Day 2012.
  • British Association for Adoption and Fostering BAAF (@BAAFAdoption) is proudly supporting and promoting eSafety across its social media networks as part of Safer Internet Day 2012.
  • Voice for the Child in Care Voice is working with children and young people in care and in need and supporting them to stay safe online.
  • Microsoft Microsoft are supporting SID hosting the SID Live radio show & running a connecting generations event for schools near their UK headquarters.
  • Huntington School, York Students & ICT staff will put online guidance resources for Staff/Students/Parents on the VLE, hold a Q & A advice session & email safety info.
  • South Yorkshire Police Community Safety Department Free online safety awareness sessions aimed at Parents/Guardians on 7th, 8th and 9th Feb between 6.30pm to 8.00pm @ The Lifewise Centre.
  • Plymouth University Connecting generations on Plymouth University campus. Students helping demystify technology.  Make electronic postcards for granny!
  • Bitz ‘n’ PC’z Ltd We will support SID by Tweeting and blogging internet and computers safety tips @bitznpcz and http://www.bitznpcz.co.uk.
  • Communications Consumer Panel The Communications Consumer Panel will encourage people to take part in SID in an article in its Jan newsletter and will tweet its support.
  • National Deaf Children’s Society Youth Advisory Board members of the National Children’s Deaf Society will join the panel for the Safer Internet Day debate in Parliament!
  • Medlar with Wesham Church of England Primary School, Preston The school’s target is to e-mail as a group or individual & say how they help other generations, family/friends to keep safe online.
  • Tollesbury School, Essex We have 220 children and we will be educating 60 adults at our SID parents’ event.
  • Bedfordshire Police Internet safety advice via twitter and facebook ,visits to local schools & a parent/guardian evening on keeping young people safe online.
  • Stardoll Stardoll is promoting the SID with a seven day campaign with a special contest promoting online safety.
  • Northamptonshire Local Safeguarding Children Board Northamptonshire Local Safeguarding Children Board will be supporting SID 2012 with school assemblies and promotion of the new CEOP Parent Video.
  • Northern Grid for Learning Northern Grid & Space to Learn, Hartlepool to run a weeks eSafety activities & Student Ambassadors to train as Cyber Mentors with Beatbullying.
  • Vodafone Parents’ Guide As part of its focus on digital parenting, Vodafone is informing parents who visit its Parents’ Guide website about Safer Internet Day.
  • Teachtoday Teachtoday is proud to promote Safer Internet Day on its website and to its 1,000+ followers on Facebook and Twitter.
  • The Industry Trust The film, TV & video industry is supporting SID & the Internet IQ Quiz to help families stay safe by enjoying official online entertainment.
  • The Security Company The Security Company are promoting SID to all members, featuring SID throughout February and supporting members in their SID activities.
  • Telefónica O2 UK O2 will promote SID in-store, online and in schools and will take the message to children and young people through O2 Learn and O2 Think Big.
  • Merseyside Police Merseyside Police will launch “The Guide to Internet Safety & Online Citizenship”. This aims to keep young people safe & responsible online.
  • Bitdefender Bitdefender is promoting SID on its website with “safego” – a free Facebook security app, a social media infographic + e-guides.
  • EPICT EPICT is promoting SID to its 1000s of Certificated teachers around the world, showcasing videos, links & info via our online courses.
  • Department of Media and Communications London School of Economics New report recommends that parents should engage with their children online rather than restrict them to protect them from risk of harm – see www.eukidsonline.net
  • The Children’s Hospital School Great Ormond Street Hospital London, WC1N 3JH We will teach Internet Safety in the school & wards & will run an information stall in the main foyer for patients, families & hospital staff.
  • Surrey County Council S C C will hold workshops on cyber bullying, social networking & e-safety at Quadrant Court, Woking on 8 Feb & the Runnymede Centre on 10 Feb.
  • Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre CEOP launches ‘Parents’ and Carers’ Guide to the Internet’, a light hearted look at what it takes to be an online parent.
  • UK Online Centres UK online centres will be promoting Safer Internet Day to our network of centres across the country, through newsletters and websites.
  • Quarriers Quarriers is launching its internet safety programme for children and adults on Feb 7  including an elearning module on Quarriers intranet.
  • Puresight This SID, PureSight supports parents in connecting with their children about safe surfing and protecting them from Cyberbullies & Stalkers.
  • Bradon Forest School, Purton, Wiltshire Delivering assemblies to Years 7 – 11 throughout the week as well as covering the topic of online safety in Key Stage 3 lessons.
  • Disney Club Penguin Club Penguin will be hosting a number of activities for parents and children from our Brighton office during Safer Internet Day 2012.
  • Newent Community School and Sixth Form Assemblies and tutorials will raise awareness of e-safety and the digital footprint, good e-citizenship and how to report cyber-bullying.
  • Intellect The UKs technology trade association is helping to raise awareness of online safety issues and working with industry to drive best practice.
  • Kinson Primary School, Bournemouth, Dorset Year 5 I.S. Team & Dorset Police will provide digital safety advice to parents/carers & all pupils– & launch their I.S. comic & Rap video.
  • Connect mums We are going to be running a week long campaign on safe usage with an article every day from 1 Feb to 7 Feb 2012.
  • South Devon College We have developed a Be Safe Online course giving info on cyber-bullying and safe social networking with a prize draw for participants.
  • Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board A day of inter-active games and events linking generations, and an evening for practitioners to up-date -safety – all at Plymouth University.
  • Platinum Squared Limited Platinum Squared will be delivering the Safe and Secure presentation to over 400 children at RBA in Bedfordshire.
  • Wildern School, Southampton Y7-Y11 will create stay safe online videos/posters for different generations & SID live radio program will play in ICT & school piazza 7 Feb.
  • Nominet Trust Nominet Trust brings together, invests in and supports people committed to creating a safe, accessible internet used to make society better.
  • Full House Theatre Company Full House will deliver performances & workshops in schools on cyber bullying & web safety, providing support and guidance to young people.
  • New College, Swindon New College Swindon will promote SID by offering guidance on internet safety to their ICT adult learners in their Queens Drive & Moredon Learning Centres.
  • High Storrs School High Storrs School, Sheffield is engaging our pupils, families & our ICT senior learners to help raise awareness of internet safety issues.
  • The Chartered Institute for IT BCS are promoting Safer Internet Day in a media message to IT practitioners & offering ‘safer social networking’ resources to e-safety learners.
  • Promethean Planet PrometheanPlanet.com is promoting SID by offering schools free resources to educate students and teachers about e-safety and cyber-bullying.
  • Sir John Lillie Primary School, Fulham e-safety comics & films by Y6 & assemblies & parents workshops on e-safety, & sharing our VLE & our award winning blog.
  • Digital Disruption The Digital Disruption website has free resources and lesson plans for teaching critical digital judgement skills across Years 7-13.
  • BT BT will encourage staff & customers to review parental controls think about safety & share their knowledge with family friends & colleagues.
  • Crocketts Community Primary ‘Crocketts are holding a networked e-safety event to join the local community and e-safe partners. We aim to inspire, innovate and create change.
  • Prudhoe Castle First School Castle Road Prudhoe Northumberland To connect generations this SID, Y4 children will bring an adult to school to share their knowledge & create an online family tree to use at home.
  • Priory C of E Primary School, Worksop Family blogging event (from the comfort of the living room) to ask questions and take advice from the Headteacher about safer internet use.
  • Kidscape and Grandparents plus Safe Tea. Kidscape and Grandparents plus have teamed up to encourage grandparents to sit down, have a cuppa and talk about their grandchild’s cyber activities.
  • Beatbullying Beatbullying will be hosting webchats with our young people to discuss how best to connect generations online.
  • Lancashire Police Lancashire Constabulary is holding an interactive web chat to discuss the importance of staying safe online on Safer Internet Day.
  • The LEGO Group The LEGO Group is pleased to support SID & will be taking part in the SID discussion listening to the experience of users from 4 – 84.
  • NSPCC NSPCC is proud to support SID 2012 through social media, sharing safety tips for parents, & supporting children via www.childline.org.uk.
  • Netintelligence Netintelligence is updating its website with lots of really useful information for parents and teachers for Safer Internet Day.
  • The Scout Association The Scout Association will promote SID to our members on www.scouts.org.uk, & to parents of scouts directly via our parent email newsletter.
  • NAACE Naace, the ICT Association, is supporting SID, and promoting SID throughout our network.
  • Great British Kids greatbritishkids.com have informed all our members about SID and we are promoting it on GBK RADIO all next week.
  • ATVOD ATVOD will promote the day by hosting information on our website and including Safer Internet Day information in our regular newsletter.
  • Eliot Bank Primary School, Sydenham Eliot Bank Primary School continue to put e-safety at the forefront of our ICT education and look forward to making good use of this year’s SID resources.
  • Carphone Warehouse Carphone Warehouse and Prof. Tanya Byron used research with children to inform a free advice booklet for parents, available instore & online.
  • Northern Ireland Assembly The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety will promote Safer Internet Day on the NI Direct website www.nidirect.gov.uk.
  • The Parent zone The Parent Zone exists to make life easier for parents. Providing information to parents about technology and the parenting dilemmas that come with the digital age.
  • Scottish Government The Scottish Government is running a internet safety competition to coincide with Safer Internet Day.  Click link for further details.
  • Cybermentors The Cybermentors & FutureYou web sites will host live web chat on SID & run a workshop with NGfL & launch Virtual Violence 2.
  • Groupe Speciale Mobile (GSM) The GSMA represents the interests of mobile operators worldwide and will be promoting Safer Internet Day 2012 to its staff and members.
  • Learning Enhanced Educational Services We are donating a consultant to three local schools to run help staff run sessions with children, parents and grandparents.
  • Family Online Safety Institute FOSI’s GRID will showcase ways the digital and generational divides are being bridged around the world. Check – fosigrid.org.
  • Bardwell CEVC Primary School, Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk On Safer Internet Day we will be holding a whole school assembly about E safety and activities will be taking place in each class.
  • Paignton Community & Sports College The College will be putting on events to mark SID throughout the week, to bring E-safety to the forefront of all our minds.
  • TalkTalk PLC TalkTalk will promote SID via its safety newsletter, website and social media. TalkTalk will also be offering one-to-one safety sessions for customers in London.
  • Lister Primary School, Bradford At Lister Primary School we are inviting parents to a special Safer Internet Day assembly led by our Year 6 pupils.
  • Age UK Promoting Age UK’s Internet Safety leaflet and piloting internet security, buying safely online and identity theft course with older people.
  • Nominet UK Supporting Safer Internet Day through our knowthenet educational website and social media, helping to make the UK Internet safe, secure, reliable and trusted as possible.
  • Knowthenet We will be supporting SID through our website and social media channels, providing information to help people to stay safe, legal, and informed online.
  • BBC Working in partnership to support Safer Internet Day, the BBC’s Share Take Care campaign raises awareness of the issues around safeguarding reputation online.

  • Sector Forensics Ltd Real CSI will promote this great idea by advertising on our website and using social media to make our clients aware of the day.
  • Kids and Media Sharing digital media activities in the family can be fun and absorbing, aids learning, collaboration and cooperation across the ages.
  • GEMS Bolitho School, Penzance Assemblies on social networking, online profiling and internet protection, parents information session, focus on internet safety in all ICT lessons across all year groups.
  • The Co-operative Banking Group The Co-operative group will promote SID to colleagues asking them to teach & share life skills & advice on e-safety with friends & family.
  • Care Distribute internet safety advice in an ebulletin to members and supporters and via twitter to help parents keep their children safe online.
  • Get Safe Online Get Safe Online is supporting SID with tips and info on its website, promotion via Twitter, acting as a media spokesperson and via an ITV segment airing on the day.  
  • Adoption UK Adoption UK is proud to support and attend SID and will be raising awareness of eSafety via its social media networks.
  • Ofsted An exciting and educational day of activities with KS2 creating e-safety jingles and raps, producing digital footprints and participating in two interactive assemblies.
  • Sheffield Springs Academy At Sheffield Springs Academy we are taking over ICT lessons with our SID message and having form-time activities and whole-school competitions to raise awareness of SID 2012.
  • Hertfordshire County Council Herts schools & partners are celebrating SID 2012 with a ‘Mind the Gap’ campaign, to encourage  everyone  to talk about staying safe online.
  • Cambridge Education @ Islington We’re holding a half day conference for school leaders, sharing resources and ideas to use back in school. Love the ideas from Humberside.
  • Lightspeed Systems Europe Lightspeed Systems Europe will encourage a class of younger & older students to collaborate using our online platform My Big Campus.
  • Little Sutton Primary School We are holding assemblies, competitions and providing lots of links to resources for parents and children to promote safe internet use.
  • Birches Head High School, Stoke-on-Trent Assemblies all week for 11-16 year old pupils on online safety. & putting information for parents on online safety, on our school website.
  • Three Three will be sharing a newly created security checklist in the ‘Discover’ section of three.co.uk and on our twitter feed.
  • Wise kids Training days and workshops for carers and young people  to explore the potential for safe and cool Internet use across generations.
  • Wired Teachers Wired Teachers, the online community for educators who believe in the transformational power of ICT in learning.
  • Virtual College Our safeguarding division will be supporting Safer Internet Day by teaching awareness of Internet Safety  through e-learning courses.
  • Family and Parenting Institute FPI will be supporting SID by encouraging participation in our Family Friendly scheme – to build a more family friendly UK, as well as promoting the day to our partners.
  • Facebook We’re celebrating SID – start the conversation at home about internet safety skills and check out the Family Safety Centre for tips.
  • Go ON Go ON are supporting SID by sharing the SID resources with all digital champions and will tweet the SID conversation starters.

  • Hampshire Collegiate School A day of e-Safety activities including producing a video ‘Connecting Generations at HCS’
  • Fife Community Safety Partnership Local communities across Fife will have access to e-Safety info, advice support sessions for parents, carers and young people
  • St Helen’s Council St Helen’s Council Adult and Community Learning Team are running parent, carers and children e safety workshops in primary schools throughout February.
  • Witham Hall School, Lincolnshire Various age specific sessions for Years 1-8 & a parents’ session in the evening run by a member of CEOP & the UKCCIS board.
  • Dimensions Training Solutions Limited Using the SID packs info, learners will discuss in class the internet sites they regularly use and any issues they have experienced.
  • St Augustine’s Catholic College, Trowbridge Here at St Augustines Catholic College in Trowbridge, we will discuss the SID theme in tutor time and participate in the SID poster and video competition 
  • Hutton CE Primary School, Weston-Super-Mare Hutton CE Primary School are having a whole day of e-safety workshops and activities for ALL age groups!
  • Brumby Junior School, Scunthorpe Brumby Junior School will run e-safety activities across all classes in the school during SID, raising awareness of staying safe online.
  • The Meadows Primary School and Resource Base, Northfield, Brimingham E-safety information evening plus competitions for all Key Stages – contact us for information.
  • The Vyne Community School, Basingstoke, Hampshire Assemblies this week to encourage students to actively take part in SID & help someone from another generation to be safe using the internet
  • Nansen Primary School Saltley, Birmingham SID assemblies with all KS2 classes making a presentation. Y 4 & Y5 are also creating Acceptable Use posters to enter into the competition.
  • South Wolverhampton & Bilston Academy We are delivering Assemblies on “Discovering the digital world together safely” and doing form time activities
  • United Church Schools Trust / United Learning Trust UCST and ULT schools and academies will be delivering Safer Internet Day presentation to students and parents.
  • Holy Trinity Primary School, Belfast All of our 650 primary children are involved in SID & sharing safety messages in lots of different ways with friends and family.
  • Mycenturio We are tweeting and posting about SID within our social profiles.
  • For Mums We are promoting the Safer Internet Day to the mums of Chiswick using our Twitter and Facebook updates!
  • PCXUK PCXUK is supporting SID by Tweeting our online safety top tips & sending internet safety newsletter to our subscribers pcxuk.com.
  • Stephenson Memorial Primary School We celebrated Safer Internet Day by using our Learning Platform to share our E-Safety knowledge with the whole learning community.
  • TES The TES SID resource collection has been updated. We have tweeted regularly, promoted in a recent ICT newsletter & in the magazine.
  • NASUWT NASUWT, the largest Teachers’ Union, is once again proud to be promoting SID with teachers and headteachers throughout the UK. #NASUWT.
  • KnowDiss We fully support SID to help keep children aware & safe from online threats.
  • RM Education RM are running an eSafety workshop in the Real Centre, to share best practice with local schools.
  • Everton Nursery School and Family Centre Spencer Street Liverpool We are holding a quiz for parents at Everton Nursery School and Family Centre.
  • Birchwood Primary, Ipswich In assembly we watched the Lee & Kim film from ThinkUKnow & did SID activities to show why the internet is great & how to stay safe online.
  • Department for Work and Pensions, National Pension CentreDepartment for Work and Pensions, National Pension Centre At Tyneview Park, we got together to promote SID 2012, offering advice and handing out leaflets to some of our 2000 employees.
  • St. Mewan St. Mewan are celebrating safer internet day. Grandparents are coming to learn with the pupils & we will all complete e-safety activities.
  • Bob’s Business Bob’s Business will proudly promote SID on our website, tweet about the day’s events & provide free access to our awareness learning modules.
  • zvelo Zvelo shared the SID messages in their Jan technology partner newsletter and blogged twice sharing internet safety tips
  • The National Deaf Children’s Society NDCS are proud to support the SID message ‘connect with respect’. We empower deaf children & young people to have their say and take action.
  • BPI (British Recorded Music Industry) BPI will promote SID on our website and social networks & develop resources to help children access music safely online.
  • Learning Enhanced Supporting schools to be part of Safer Internet Day 2013 through staff training, parent awareness sessions and workshops for students.
