HOTLINE: INTERNET WATCH FOUNDATION
Hotline for reporting and removing sexual images of children online
Protecting children is at the heart of everything we do.
How the Hotline works
We help victims of child sexual abuse worldwide by identifying and removing online images and videos of their abuse. We search for child sexual abuse images and videos and offer a place for the public to report them anonymously. We then have them removed. We’re an independent, non-profit charitable organisation working in partnership with a range of other organisations from the private, public and NGO sectors.
We minimise the availability of online sexual abuse content. Specifically:
Child sexual abuse content hosted anywhere in the world
Non-photographic child sexual abuse images hosted in the UK
If you ever see sexual images or videos of someone who you think might be under the age of 18 online, don’t hesitate to report safely and anonymously to us via our website.
Self-generated child sexual abuse prevention campaign
Any child with unrestricted access to internet-connected devices is at risk. We’ve launched a campaign to empower girls and warn their parents and carers about the risks posed by predators targeting children online. We want to build resilience to the threat of self-generated sexual abuse of children, thereby reducing the number of incidences.
#HomeTruths
As part of the campaign, parents are encouraged to T.A.L.K to their children about the dangers.
• Talk to your child about online sexual abuse. Start the conversation – and listen to their concerns.
• Agree ground rules about the way you use technology as a family.
• Learn about the platforms and apps your child loves. Take an interest in their online life.
• Know how to use tools, apps and settings that can help to keep your child safe online.
Help us spread the word and close the door to online child sexual abusers.
