Anne Longfield, Children’s Commissioner for England
The past year has shown just how important the internet is to all of us, not least to children. It helps us to connect with one another, have fun and learn about the world around us. I want children to be able to explore the digital world with confidence, knowing that there are systems in place to help them if anything goes wrong, while they enjoy all the benefits that being online brings.
I have spent the past six years as Children’s Commissioner for England championing children’s digital rights. So much has been achieved in this time, but there is still so much more to do. I call upon everyone involved in empowering children online – including politicians, technology companies, parents and more – to continue listening to children’s voices and putting their interests at the heart of efforts to improve the online world.
