Baroness Kidron OBE, Founder and Chair, 5Rights

It has been yet another year in which children and young people, particularly the members of Gifted Young Generation, have guided the work of 5Rights Foundation and the Digital Futures Commission with their ideas and experience. From them I get my understanding that the digital world should be built with young people in mind.
The digital world is a hundred percent engineered and can be designed for any outcome. The outcome I wish to see, is one where the creativity of the sector is put at the service of young people to support their interests, growth and participation.
This year the Online Safety Bill will finally become law. I’m committed to working with parliamentarians from all parties and both Houses, to ensure that children’s needs, rights and voices are properly captured in this important piece of legislation.“On this year’s Safer Internet Day, I wish all young people a successful, happy and productive year – and thank them for the wisdom and leadership they have shown, in helping us at 5Rights, build the digital world that young people deserve
