Claire Haughey MSP, Minister for Children and Young people, Scottish Government

“The internet is part of all our lives, so it is vital that we use it wisely and that we ensure our children and young people are safe online. The theme of this year’s Safer Internet Day is around making space to have conversations about life online. It is so important to listen to children and speak to them about how they use the internet.
To mark Safer Internet Day 2023, we will, through Parent Club, be running a campaign to help parents and carers make sure their children stay safe online. It includes really useful hints and tips and it will go live on 6 February across a range of radio, TV and digital channels – directly reaching hundreds of thousands of Scots.
Digital technology is a fantastic resource for children – but we must help them to use it safely and responsibly.”
