“Safer Internet Day urges us to think about how we can protect ourselves and each other online; because whilst we know the internet can provide vital access to support for people experiencing self-harm and suicide, it can also carry risks.
“Samaritans believe making the internet safer is everyone’s business, which is why we’ve created resources and training to support everyone from users, parents and carers, mental health practitioners and tech companies.
“On Safer Internet Day we encourage everyone to remember the Online Safety Act will not fix the Internet on its own; platforms can choose to go further to make the internet a safe and supportive space for all.”
