‘I am delighted to see Safer Internet Day once again being recognised by organisations worldwide in an effort to ensure that the internet is a safe space for all of our children and young people. The internet is now an everyday part of our children and young people’s lives, with many children accessing the internet before they even start school – it is vital that we educate them on how to stay safe online from the earliest opportunity.
Safer Internet Day is an important reminder to us all about the conversations we should be having with our children on a regular basis about how to stay safe online. The internet is a fantastic resource and can be used in many different positive ways – we must all make sure we play our part in ensuring children and young people are aware of how to use it safely, how to make it an inclusive space and, most importantly, what to do when something doesn’t seem right.’
