“With the rapid growth of AI, social media and other technology, young people have wider access to the online world than ever before. With the amazing opportunities to learn, develop and connect, it is paramount that young people are kept safe and protected online, including protecting their data.
We want children and young people to be able to be confident digital citizens who can safely participate online, whilst feeling comfortable in recognising and reporting harassment. Children and young people need the skills to be able to understand the varied motivations of people on the internet, and to be able to think critically about what they see or read.
The NEU supports Safer Internet day and this year’s focus on how using the internet can be used to make change for the better.”
