Interim Chief Executive, Stonewall – Paul Twocock

The internet can be hugely important in helping young LGBT people explore their identity, but we also know it can also be a dangerous and harmful place. Our research found that nearly all LGBT young people (97 per cent) have seen homophobic, biphobic and transphobic content on the internet, while two in five (40 per cent) have been the target of anti-LGBT abuse online. Initiatives like Safer Internet Day are so important because they go a long way towards creating an internet where no LGBT person is afraid of abuse or discrimination.
