About Safer Internet Day
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre, the celebration sees thousands of organisations get involved to promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
Safer Internet Day is the UK’s biggest celebration of online safety. Each year we cover an online issue or theme that speaks to the things young people are seeing and experiencing online.
Created in consultation with young people across the UK, this year Safer Internet Day will be focusing on scams online, this includes covering:
- How young people and the adults supporting them can protect themselves and others from scams
- The scale of this issue and different types of scams that young people may experience
- The future of scams and the impact of changing technology like generative AI
- How the government and internet industry can help tackle this threat
- What changes young people would like to see to help protect themselves moving forward
