Trend Micro's 2011 “What’s Your Story” Internet Safety Video Competition Winners Announced
Trend Micro have announced the winners in their second annual ‘What’s your story’ internet safety video competition.
Entries were received from both individuals and schools across the U.S., U.K., and Canada, and the eventual winners of Trend Micro’s second annual international video contest were two young filmmakers from Ohio, U.S. with the judges feeling that their video delivered a compelling message to youth everywhere.
“The judging panel was pleased by the high calibre of entries this year, making it very challenging to pick our winner,” said Lynette Owens, director and founder of Trend Micro Internet Safety for Kids & Families.
“I especially want to thank all of the contestants who devoted their time and energy to create wonderful videos that sought to inspire and educate young people everywhere on the issues surrounding Internet safety. They should be proud of their work and the impact that each video will make to young people across the globe.”
Finalists were selected based on a combination of views and ratings with the grand prize winner and three category runners-up chosen based on creativity, appropriateness and effectiveness. The grand prize was awarded in the category ‘Being a Good Online Citizen’, for the challenging film titled “Where Are You?” by Mark C. Eshleman, featuring Tyler Joseph. They said,
“Our inspiration was to create something that would have a positive influence on young people.”
There were a wide range of entries and some of these can be used directly with children and young people as a great way to get them thinking about the way they use technology, and doing so safely and responsibly, and will be a positive addition to the resources currently available.
