UKSIC join Liverpool FC in preparation for Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday 31st January, the UKSIC team joined Liverpool FC at Anfield stadium for a full day of activities with local schools.
This day was organised in preparation for Safer Internet Day which takes place next week on the 7th February.
We’re also happy to announce that we’ll be hosting a video stream of what happened on the day from 10:00am on Safer Internet Day across the UK Safer Internet Centre YouTube channel – make sure you remember to join us online!
What happened at Anfield?
The day was split up with local primary schools joining us for morning and afternoon sessions.
For an initial welcome, the Liverpool FC mascot Mighty Red greeted everyone at the door and showed off some of his funny moves before the UKSIC team led a Safer Internet Day assembly about this year’s theme of ‘Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations online.’
We were also very lucky to be joined by football legend John Barnes who also spoke to the students around online safety whilst joining in on some of the discussions.
Whilst some learners toured the stadium, others partook in online safety activities.
The young people discussed how technology can make them feel, and questioned what persuasive design is when we go online.
Students were treated to some goodies from Liverpool FC and found out how they can continue to celebrate Safer Internet Day.
