Entries have now Closed for the Childnet Film Competition 2020. In this blog we look at what happens next and what further activities you can do whilst waiting for the announcement of the winners.

So, what happens now?

Now that your entries are in, its time for you to sit back and relax. Now it’s our time to start the hard work! First the team at Childnet will sit down and take a look at all of your great entries, we will then create a shortlist of films and storyboards to send to our judging panel! The judges will have the extremely difficult job of deciding who will take home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each of the categories.

Following this, the winners will be announced on the 3rd July!

What are the prizes?

For the solo and group category:

All three finalists in both categories will receive film making equipment for their school or youth organisation. Their films will also receive BBFC accreditation which means they can be shown in any cinema in the UK!

For the storyboard category:

The storyboard category winners will receive some fantastic prizes to help them create industry standard storyboards in the future.

What other online safety films are available for me to watch?

  • Watch the winners from last year’s competition – these films are created by young people to educate their peers
  • Have an adventure with the Captain Kara films – These cartoons illustrate 5 online safety SMART rules. It includes a real life SMART Crew of young people who guide the cartoon characters in their quest and help them make safe online decisions.
  • Learn about issues such as cyberbullying and sexting with the PSHE Toolkit – Our PSHE toolkits for secondary aged young people contain short films you can watch which cover issues young people may be facing in their online lives.
