How well do schools in England protect children and young people online?
The annual Online Safety Index report that looks at how well schools in England protect their children online has been released for 2022. The report from our partners at SWGfL analyses data from the 360 Degree Safe tool and determines how well schools throughout England have performed across local authorities.
360 Degree Safe supports schools by identifying where their strengths and weaknesses lie when it comes to online safety policy and practice.Â
Online Safety Performance Â
The report shows the current online safety landscape for 2022. As with previous reports, it shows the top performing local authorities who show good performance and engagement levels, strongly indicating that online safety remains a high priority throughout the area. Â
As well, there are the local authority areas who have scored the lowest, indicating a lower focus towards online safety improvement.
David Wright (CEO of SWGfL said):
‘’The online safety landscape is once again showing us where the strengths and weaknesses lie. Technology is always evolving which means online safety continues to adapt alongside. It is essential that schools prioritise a consistent review of their online safety policies so they can actively show how they are working towards keeping children and young people safe online. The report has now shown where the gaps are, and we encourage all local authorities to continue to work towards improvement and ensure online safety remains a high priority.’’Â
