SID Activity Pages Launched
With so many suggestions available of what to do on Safer Internet Day, it can be hard to know where to begin! To help focus your day, and keep things simple, we have launched two new pages on our UKSIC website. One for parents and carers, and one for young people.
We’ve pooled our resources to give each audience a selection of ideas, of things to do, to help get everyone’s Safer Internet Day off to a really good start.
Parents and carers activities include: a range of conversation starters to help engage with children and talk about their internet use; a free downloadable leaflet to help support children and young people in all areas of their life online; and a factsheet containing a list of useful website suggestions to find out more about keeping families safe online.
Young people’s activities include: top tips to be a good friend online; social media suggestions of services that can be used to engage with everyone who’s supporting SID 2015, for example through Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram; details of SID TV and the shows that will feature a range of celebrities, including stars from Britain’s Got Talent, X Factor and EastEnders, and will be hosted by CBBC Friday Download presenters Molly and Harvey; and links to our education packs that can be shared with schools in preparation for the day. It’s never too late to use our free classroom activities!
For each audience there is of course our fantastic SID 2015 quiz that can be taken online and will also be available to download too, plus the opportunity to ‘Make a SID promise’ and join in with the Up2Us campaign. If you’re short on SID promise ideas, then our videos from children and young people talking about their promises will be sure to give you the inspiration that you need.
There are so many ways to get involved on the day, and in the run up too. There’s still time to register as a supporter and let us know about your planned activities. Spread the word and help us make SID 2015 even bigger and better than ever before.
