Research Highlight number 96 has been published by the UKCCIS Evidence Group

A new Research Highlight has been published by the Evidence Group of the UK Council for Child Internet Safety.

The Evidence Group provides the UK Council for Child Internet Safety (UKCCIS) with helpful summaries of relevant and new research and includes representatives from NGO’s, academia and Police.

The Series aims to keep UKCCIS, and the wider public, up to date with current research.

We’re pleased to share that the Evidence Group have published a new Research Highlight, the 96th summary in the series. This is a summary of the key research findings from the NSPCC and FACTs International about sexting and young people, and the knowledge that parents have of this.

The study aims to show how parents could be better supported to help their children understand the issues surrounding sexting.

One of the key things this study highlights is that 73% of parents believe that sexting is always harmful and 37% are concerned that their child may become involved in sexting in the future.

This research can help inform those working with parents and influence materials, services and education in the future.
