Ways to keep celebrating Safer Internet Day
We hope you all had a fantastic Safer Internet Day last Tuesday. It was wonderful to see so many organisations and schools coming together to share their support for our theme of ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online.’ The supporters we received this year broke all previous records making it a Safer Internet Day to remember!
Just because Safer Internet Day has finished doesn’t mean there’s nothing left to do. There’s still plenty you can get involved with to continue celebrating staying safe online. Below we have listed ways you can continue to celebrate Safer Internet Day throughout the coming weeks.
Take a look at the research: Find out what our research report showed around online gaming and what positive impact it has had on children and young people. You can also see the challenges that were faced and the risks that were associated with playing online games.
Watch the films: We have created a range of Safer Internet Day films to help you spread the word, whether you are a school, nursery, youth group, library, police service, or wider. Working with schools throughout the UK, they have been specifically designed to support educators in delivering messages about our campaign theme of exploring respect and relationships online when gaming.
Take the quizzes: We have a range of quizzes aimed to test your knowledge about how to stay safe online when gaming. They are available for 7-11 year olds, 11-14 year olds and 14-18 year olds. Make sure you have a go and see if you can get full marks.
Watch the Liverpool event: If you missed the virtual Liverpool FC event, don’t worry -you can watch the whole thing on the UK Safer Internet Centre’s YouTube channel. Make sure you keep an eye out for some of the Liverpool players as well as their famous mascot, Mighty Red.
Read our supportive quotes: Take a look at what some of the leading people in some of the most renowned organisations across the UK have said about Safer Internet Day and what they did to show their support.
Safer Internet Day may be over but don’t forget to continue to promote the key messages taken from the day.
