Celebrate Pride Month with Childnet’s LGBTQ+ Poster
This Pride Month (June 2022), our partner Childnet have designed an original poster which empowers LGBTQ+ young people in schools and youth groups to champion their online identities.
Rather than following a “one-size fits all” approach, the poster encourages young people to embrace their identities at a style and pace which suits them.
The LGBTQ+ community have the right to feel safe, protected and happy online, and schools play an important role in supporting and safeguarding.
Created for teachers, education professionals and youth workers, the “Own Your Online Identity” poster can be downloaded and printed for free; to help create a display or stick up in classrooms and on noticeboards.
Online safety is an especially important lens for the poster, as the majority of LGBTQ+ people who experience online hate crime do not report it. (Galop, What is Online Hate Speech and Hate Crime?, 2021)
The poster includes topics and themes such as:
- How to express yourself on social media at your own pace
- Surrounding yourself with positive content
- Using the report and block tools
- Upstanding rather than bystanding
- What activism can look like
What better way to support LGBTQ+ youth this Pride Month? Stick this poster up in your classroom or hallway today!
