Safer Internet Day 2026 reaches over half of children and young people in the UK
Launching this week, the Safer Internet Day impact report shows that Safer Internet Day reached an amazing 56% of children in the UK, as well as 37% of parents and carers. The report also shows that not only did these young people hear about the day, but that the day had a real impact in their lives, providing opportunities for conversations and a chance for young people to seek help that they may otherwise not have.

The impact of Safer Internet Day 2026, which focused on the subject of AI, can be seen through some of the key statistics of the day:
- 97%Â of teachers say that Safer Internet Day encouraged conversations about online safety between staff and young people
- 61%Â of teachers said Safer Internet Day led to concerns being raised about potential safeguarding issues online
- 51% of young people talked to their parent or carer about how to stay safe on the internet
- 21% of young people talked to someone about their online experiences that they had not spoken about before
- 71% of parents and carers talked to their child about using the internet safely
- 73% of parents and carers understand more about how to keep their child safe online
