Liverpool Football Club joins UKSIC for Safer Internet Day 2022 virtual event
Liverpool Football Club will once again be supporting Safer Internet Day 2022 by joining the UKSIC for a live virtual event taking place on Tuesday 8th February, streamed live from 2pm on the UK Safer Internet Centre’s YouTube channel.
Aimed primarily at schoolchildren, this event is free to join and will have time dedicated for primary and secondary schools. We’ll be bringing together students from across the UK to learn more about safer internet use from Liverpool Football Club as well as our very own professionals from the UK Safer Internet Centre to talk about this year’s theme of ‘All fun and games? Exploring respect and relationships online.’
There will also be special guest appearances from the LFC, including the team mascot, Mighty Red.
Those who are watching will be able to win some special prizes from LFC, you can find out how to get involved on the event
Forbes Duff, senior manager, CSR at Liverpool FC, said: “We have been working together with UK Safer Internet Centre for seven years now, providing engaging events for children and young people on the importance of staying safe and happy online.
“Highlighting the ever-present risks of the internet alongside its benefits is so important especially in today’s technological world when young people spend long periods of time online for education and entertainment.
“This is the second year our joint event has been delivered virtually, and we are hoping it will be as successful as last year, which engaged with more than 6000 attendees.”
Will Gardner OBE, director at UK Safer Internet Centre, added: We are so happy to have the fantastic support of Liverpool FC this Safer Internet Day – this will really help us in our goal to spread the word about the importance of online safety this year.
“We can’t wait to celebrate the day with Liverpool and explore our themes around respect and relationships online, particularly when playing games online or using interactive services. With Liverpool FC, we have the power to engage young people everywhere and this will really help as we look to support young people when they are playing online.”
Don’t forget, there are still a range of helpful resources and activities, available to teachers, parents and young people. Included are education packs, films, and social media packs. If you haven’t done so already, schools and organisations can also register their support here.
