StopNCII.org – Preventing Non-Consensual Intimate Image Sharing

StopNCII.org was launched in December 2021 by our partners at SWGfL. This innovative, global tool uses ground-breaking technology to protect adults (18+) from intimate image abuse. It is operated by the Revenge Porn Helpline and was developed in partnership with Meta.

StopNCII.org allows adults to take control of their intimate images before they can be shared online without consent. It works by creating digital fingerprints (known as hashes), of their intimate images so they can be blocked and prevented from being shared across participating platforms. Intimate images can also be taken down if already shared.

Images are never transferred nor saved on StopNCII.org. Part of the technology ensures that the image never leaves the adult’s device. Instead, the unique hashes are shared with the partnering platforms who will then be able to (subject to partner policy) block and take down any intimate images that match.

Facebook and Instagram are currently partnered with StopNCII.org who will receive hashes and review content. If it violates their policies around non-consensual intimate images it will be removed.
