Safer Internet Day 2022 reached more young people than ever before, with 54% of UK children aged 8-17 hearing about the day, alongside 32% of UK parents and carers.

Safer Internet Day 2022, which focussed on the subject of online gaming, had a bigger reach than ever before, which can be seen through some of the key statistics of the day:

Impact in schools
We saw schools across the country taking part in Safer Internet Day celebrations, in lessons and assemblies, using the full range of educational resources, films and activities available. We asked teachers who were involved in the day about the impact this had, and found:
90% of teachers say Safer Internet Day plays a significant role in their school’s online safety provision
91% said the day helped make pupils more confident about staying safe online
41% of teachers said the day led to disclosures about potential safeguarding issues online

Our Safer Internet Day 2022 impact research was conducted with more than 1,000 young people and 2,000 parents and carers across the UK. More than 180 teachers were polled as part of the Safer Internet Day Schools and Teachers Evaluation.
